• New Opening Concert Dresden Music Festival | Mozart's »Zauberflöte« rescheduled for 2023

Due to logistic postponements caused by the corona restrictions during the last months, the opera performances of »Die Zauberflöte« have to be rescheduled for the 2023 season. We are very happy that the Dresden Festival Orchestra and Jean-Christophe Spinosi will open the Dresden Music Festival's season of "MAGIC" with a concert at the Kulturpalast.

  • Robert Schumann: Symphony No. 3 in E flat major Op. 97 »Rhenish«

As part of the performance of the complete symphonies by Robert Schumann, his Symphony No. 3 was played at the final concert of the 2018 Dresden Music Festival. The concert was broadcast live on June 10, 2018 at the Kulturpalast. The Dresden Festival Orchestra performed under the baton of its chief conductor Ivor Bolton.

Discover the Dresden Festival Orchestra!

The founding of this orchestra signifies both continuity and adventure to us at the Dresden Music Festival. An orchestra which explores Dresden’s rich musical history using original instruments of the period in question inspires us as a festival while also profiting itself from the festival’s atmosphere and the orchestral tradition of Saxony. It is an ambitious project which we were only able to grow so quickly thanks to the loyal support of the Dresden Music Festival’s audience. Concerts at the Festival, guest performances and CD productions: the activities of our Festival Orchestra are diverse and plenty. Your interest and your curiosity about the new historical sound from Dresden is our motivation.

Yours, Jan Vogler, Intendant of the Dresden Music Festival
